Software Engineering Manager

The Software Development Manager manages and mentors a team of software developers whose responsibility is to create and maintain Revelation’s web and mobile apps, as well as supporting infrastructure.  You will be managing all aspects of the teams to ensure engineering and product objectives are met, as well as to ensure that Revelation maintains leadership standing in the relevant offerings.


  • Be accountable for developing software to be deployed into a highly available production environment
  • Manages a software development team which may consist of on-site and remote members of varying levels of experience
  • Mentors developing team members
  • Leverages the experience of more seasoned team members to help increase the team’s overall capability
  • Ensures team members have an awesome career path
  • Partners with Product Managers to adopt and productize features and to ensure Revelation’s development strategies and service architecture align with business goals
  • Partners with all stake holders to ensure the current and projected team size is appropriate for the Engineering and Product road map
  • Manages relationships with out hosting partners to ensure uptime, performance and cost effectiveness
  • Partners with Tech Supports staff to ensure that feature development is supportable and support pain points are timely addressed
  • Ensures team members adopt, embrace and enhance software development processes and best practices to achieve efficient and predictable delivery of features
  • Manage the companies technical IP and SaaS compliance issues

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in directly leading/managing a team of 5 to 7 software developers
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a software developer
  • Experienced in building high-performance, highly available and reliable software for a large-scale, geographically dispersed production environment
  • Experienced in building software in Ruby, Javascript, HTML5, Linux, Postgres
  • Good working knowledge of server virtualization
  • Good working knowledge of distributed architecture
  • Good working knowledge of Source Control Management practices
  • Good working knowledge of the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices
  • Demonstrated exceptional management and people skills
  • Demonstrated expertise software engineering processes
  • Demonstrated ability lead both developing and highly experienced software developers
  • Demonstrated experience in cross-functional collaboration and leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of personnel management: hiring, mentoring and performance management
